A little Bertie told me…

My husband says you can judge a restaurant by its club sandwich.

For years, that was his go-to when trying a new (casual) place.

Club sandwich. It lets you know whether they pay attention to fresh ingredients. Is the bacon crispy? Is the lettuce wilted? Did they remove the goo from the tomato slices? Did they toast the bread?

He’s a vegetarian now (no more club sandwiches!), but his M.O. made a lot of sense.

(I think mac ‘n’ cheese is one of those touchpoints for me.)

So…what’s the equivalent of a Club Sandwich for a mahjong tile set?

The Bird Bam, of course. And what could possibly make a better Bird Bam than an homage to my very own, five-year-old oddbird home logo? (But does have a little piece of bamboo in his mouth, like a peace offering to the mahjong gods.

On the back of every MID MOD MAHJ tile, there’s my existing oddbird home logo, modified so that it reads the same no matter which way you turn it, because there’s nothing more annoying than lining up your wall and noticing that some of the tiles are upside down. (Or maybe that’s just me being OCD.) I designed the back like a playing card, so it looks the same no matter which way you rotate it.
